Department of Tourism, Environmental and Economic Affairs
Environmental Impact Management sub-Directorate
Overview
- Official name of Provincial Department
Department of Tourism, Environmental and Economic Affairs
- Directorate responsible for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)
Sub-Directorate Environmental Impact Management
- How the Department deals with EIA applications received
Applications are equally assigned based on case load. The Province is not divided into regions, therefore applications received are divided between Case Officers. Case Officers are responsible to administer the application from acknowledgement to final Environmental Authorisation. The Department has an Environmental Management Committee (Committee) that sits every second week to recommend applications for approval. Case Officers prepare an application submission and PowerPoint presentation and presents the application to the Committee. The Committee will either recommend the application for approval or request additional information.
- Provincial Conservation or Biodiversity plan
