Overview

• Official name of Provincial Department

  Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Environment (GDACE)

• Directorate responsible for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)

  There are three Directorates responsible for EIAs, Environmental Planning and Impact Management (EPIA), Waste Management and Air Quality

• How are EIA applications assigned within the Department

  Applications are received by the Admin Unit where they are checked for completeness, documented, acknowledged and distributed to line functions. Each Director has a number of Deputies who assign applications to Case Officers. The arranegment of sectors depend on the Directors and range from work content to geographic area. Projects are assigned based on experience of the official and complexity of the projects.

• Provincial Conservation or Biodiversity plan

  The Province has developed a Conservation Plan (version 3), C-Plan 3. For more information on how to obtain a copy of the C-Plan 3, please contact:
