Overview

• How are EIA applications assigned within the Department

  The Province has 5 Districts. All applications are managed from Head Office. Officials are allocated work according to the district.

  Each District has an official or two depending on the workload and development rate. Applications will be allocated based on the level and challenges e.g. Listed activities under Notice R386 for Basic Assessment process will be reviewed by Environmental Officer level 7; Listed activities under Notice R386 and R387 for Basic Assessment and full EIA process will be reviewed by Senior Environmental Officer level 8

• Provincial Conservation or Biodiversity plan

  The Province is in the process of developing a Conservation plan.

• Provincial guidelines relevant to EIAs

  Currently no Provincial guidelines relevant to EIAs available. The Department is in the process of developing an environmental impact management policy and internal procedure manual.

• Provincial Application forms relevant to EIAs

  The Department adopted the national application forms published by DEAT with minor amendments.
